Nasim is a free climber, the only woman able to open new routes in Iran. She’s facing a double mountain to climb, both physical and cultural, as her passion collides with the strict policies concerning women’s freedom in her country. And she has a dream: to open a new route in the Alps.

Nasim è una free climber, l’unica donna in grado di aprire nuove vie in Iran. Deve affrontare una doppia sfida, sia fisica che culturale, poiché la sua passione si scontra con le rigide norme che limitano la libertà delle donne nel suo Paese. E ha un sogno: aprire una nuova via sulle Alpi.

SYNOPSIS

Nasim has strong hands adorned with hot-pink fingernail polish. She is the pioneer of outdoor climbing in Iran, where women climb on ‘indoor’ walls, during set hours, and only among other women. After being a young champion in different sports -from karate to kickboxing- Nasim followed the call of the mountains, and decided to go beyond the barriers imposed on women in her country setting up her own route on the Persian rocks, where she opened around fifty new lines.  “Gravity doesn’t ask me what my passport is. It takes you down in the same way, it doesn’t matter if you’re rich or poor, black or white, Iranian or Italian…”

The film portraits an extra-ordinary woman determined to push the barriers opposing her passion, whether they are physical, social, psychological, geographical or ideological.

Committed to “change things little by little“, she brings a few other young women  to the rock walls outside Tehran, teaching them how to climb and get independent. 

Nasim has a dream that can become reality: open a “new route” on the Alps even if coming to Europe is not an easy adventure.

Nasim ha mani forti e unghie dipinte con smalto rosa shocking. È una pioniera dell’arrampicata all’aperto in Iran, dove le donne dovrebbero allenarsi solo su pareti “indoor”, durante orari prestabiliti, e solo tra altre donne. “Il nome del mio paese è “Repubblica islamica dell’Iran”. Significa che le donne devono coprirsi la testa, anche se sei una turista … è la legge … è come per le cinture di sicurezza …”.

Dopo essere stata una giovane campionessa di diversi sport -dal karate al kickboxing- Nasim ha seguito il richiamo della natura e ha deciso di andare oltre le barriere imposte alle donne del suo Paese, costruendo la propria strada sulle montagne persiane. “La gravità non mi chiede qual è il mio passaporto. Ti tira giù allo stesso modo, non importa se sei ricco o povero, nero o bianco, iraniano o italiano, uomo o donna … “

Il film è il ritratto di una donna straordinaria, determinata a superare le barriere che si oppongono alla sua passione, siano esse fisiche, sociali, psicologiche, geografiche o ideologiche. Impegnata a “cambiare le cose a poco a poco”, porta altre giovani donne sulle pareti di Polekhab, poco fuori Teheran, insegnando loro come arrampicarsi e diventare indipendenti. Nasim ha un sogno che può  diventare realtà: aprire una “nuova via” proprio sulle Alpi ed entrare a far parte dell’élite del climbing internazionale.
