LORENZO GARZELLA

LORENZO GARZELLA (Pisa, 1972) is an award-winning director, producer and crossmedia author. He founded Nanof production company (Rome) with Filippo Macelloni in 2001. They collaborate with national and international broadcasters and companies (Rai, Mediaset, RCS, Sky, Fifa, Ryot Film) and cinema directors (R. Benigni, J.Cohen, R.Faenza etc.), realizing documentaries and shortfilms, played in numerous film festivals and on TV networks across the world. In 2008 Lorenzo founded Acquario della Memoria (Pisa), a cultural association specialized in installations, trans-media projects, and digital interactive storytelling on history and social issues. He teaches Video-Editing at the University of Pisa since 2002, and Digital Video at Alma Artis Academy – Scuola di Arte e Nuove Tecnologie (Pisa).

Among his most significant works: Il Mundial dimenticato / The lost World Cup (2011), mockumentary film directed with Filippo Macelloni, premiered at the Venice Film Festival and presented in several countries; Storie di Altromare / Stories from the Other Sea (2018), an imaginative portrait of the Italian painter Antonio Possenti, produced in collaboration with Sky Arte; Arno66-Timetravel (2016-2018), crossmedia project about Firenze 1966 flood; sport documentaries such as “My team – Marcello Lippi tells the story of 2006 Fifa World Championship” (Rai Uno, 2010), “Rimet – the incredible story of the World Trophy” (Festival di Taormina, 2010), “Maradona, the god and his opposite” (2004, RAI/RCS home video).
